Q: Where will the building be delivered to?
A: The building will be on a pallet and will delivered to a hard standing, kerbside

Building Assembly

Q: Will you erect the building for me?
A: Yes, a fitting service is available at additional cost.  Please contact usfor further details.

Q: Will I receive assembly instructions with my building?
A: Yes assembly instructions are included with the building.  These form part of the delivery label from our factory to your home.  Therefore if they are not attached when the building leaves us then the building cannot be delivered to you!

Q: Do I need a base for my building?
A: Like all buildings a good solid base is required.  If the ground is very uneven there will be difficulties in aligning the roof and the door(s).  If the base is not solid, movement is likely, leading problems whilst erecting the building and problems later on caused by “settlement”.

Treatments

Q: Are your buildings supplied treated?
A: All of our buildings are supplied untreated.  This means that there are no limitations on the type of finish you may wish to apply.  Further the quality of the timber used is clearly evident as we cannot hide fillers or blue stain under a factory applied basecoat.

Q: Can you treat the building for me?
A: We have no facilities to offer this service

Q: Can you recommend a treatment/preservative?
A: We do not endorse any one brand.  However, the smooth finish on the timber lends itself to accepting “paint on” finishes rather than finishes that soak in.  It is very important that any finish applied to children’s playhouses be non-toxic and safe for use on these products.

Q: Should I treat the building before I put it up?
A: Our recommendation is that you should treat the building before it is erected.  This means that you can get into all those “hard to get at” places before you put the building together.  Particular attention should be paid to the underside of the floor and along the edges of the wall and floor panels.

Maintenance

Q: How should I maintain my building?
A: Sheds should be regularly checked and the finish kept in good order so as to maintain protection.  In addition, all exterior hardware such as hinges and any locks/bolts should be lubricated regularly to maintain good working order.

Children’s playhouses should be checked prior to each use to ensure that the building continues to be safe for children to use.  Additionally it is particularly important in situations where the building has not been used for some time, such as after winter.  Screws, doors and ladders and balustrades, magnetic catches and door handles etc. should be checked to ensure that they are fully secure before allowing children to play.  Additionally, the continuous hinges must be regularly lubricated to ensure that the door continues to function safely.

EN71 European Toy Standard

Q: What is EN71?
A: EN71 is the European Safety Standard applied to all toys.  The regulations govern the safety of everything from yo-yos to chemistry sets and everything in between.

Q: Can I be certain that Florada Playhouses conform to these regulations?
A: Yes.  Many companies opt for “self certification” which is allowed under current legislation.  However, for complete peace of mind Florada has had its entire range of children’s wooden playhouses laboratory tested at an independent consumer product testing laboratory.  The testing was carried out by a company accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) and Notified under European legislation.

In order to receive this important certification our products have undergone scrutiny through, amongst others, strength and stability tests, sharp edge and finger trap testing, chemical analysis of items such as the styrene used in the glazing plus the roofing felt and all hardware to name a few.

Q: Can I see these certificates?
A: Yes.  Please contact us for details and we will send you copies of the relevant documents.

Modification of the buildings

Q: Can I have additional or fewer windows with my building?
A: With sheds it is possible.  Additional windows are available at extra cost (details are shown in the shed extras and add-ons section of the site).  We will also, at your request supply fewer windows, if required at the same list price.

It is not possible to order additional windows for playhouses as this would negate the EN71 certification.

Q: Can you modify the building or make the building “bespoke”?
A: All Florada buildings are manufactured from a modular system.  Therefore we are unable to offer a “bespoke” service.  However, the modular system itself does allow some variation when the building is erected such as different window positions or the addition of log stores or verandas for a different look.
